It is not always important for riding. if you just go for short non-strenuous rides they dont have to have good stamina. However for more serious riding such as jumping, reining, edurance racing its really important, and pretty self-explanitory. These are to a horse like it would be to a person running an obstacle course. n jumping it would be like a person running around jumping hurdles. Its alot of hard work and for any hard work you need stamina, as does your horse.
