Why is the Tapir such and odd animal?

The same reason anything else can become an endangered species, HUMANS! We typically do not care for anything but our selfs. In this matter we litter, pollute, and stink up the whole world and that my friends is the one reason that animals are disappearing from our world.

Anything that we are not familiar with is going to strike us as odd. The tapir is a rare, endangered animal indigenous to South America; most us have never seen one, or at most have seen one in a zoo, so they are unfamiliar. But there is nothing fundamentally strange about them.
