Why is your cat so vocal?

If your previously quiet cat won't stop yowling, my first guess is that she's an unfixed female and is going into heat. If you mean that a previously peaceful cat is crashing around the house knocking things over, this happens from time to time, and is normal for cats. If it's the first, get her fixed and she'll quiet down. If it's the second, it'll pass once the cat gets the excess energy out of their system.

If neither of those are the right answer, please give more information. What kind of noise is the cat making, and in what context?

If you think it is really a problem, consult a vet. My cat went for a checkup a few months back and when the vet asked if there were any problems, I simply told her that sometimes in the middle of the night or early morning my cat was yelling and meowing so loudly. She did a quick test and told me that there is a good chance my cat is going deaf. This turned out to be true, she often can't hear me coming but so far it isn't really a problem. The reason going deaf may make them yell loudly is because they cannot hear themselves, so they assume no one can and that they are not meowing at all. I hope this answer helped you.

Cats meow to commnicate with you. It's like when we talk to cats they can't understan what we say yet we still talk to them as if they are human too.
