Why is your gerbil not moving?

This may be a cause of illness. If your gerbil shows lack of interest in food and water, then it may indeed be sick. Does it spend a lot of time sleeping?

Also, is your gerbil alone? Gerbils need companionship because if they are alone too log, most gerbils actually die of loneliness. They lose interest in a lot of things they used to do when they had their companions. My advice, go to a vet and get him checked out.

It may be sleeping. Poke it and try to wake it up. It also may be scared, and be in a state of frozen terror. Give it some time to adjust. It also may be cold. Put it under a lamp to make it warm. If none of these work, go to a vet, because your gerbil may be paralyzed or have a serious injury. Unfortunately, your gerbil may well be dead. If this is the case, bury your friend and cover the spot with rocks.

My gerbil was in this state. Just put a lamp on the top of her/his cage. It will warm her/him up.

They are scared. Or paralized or dead. If it is paralized take it to a vet!
