Quarter horses have the ideal barrel racing conformation, with their well defined hindquarters, they are able to jump into a run from the starting gate and turn on a dime. Arabians are not built much like quarter horses. They can be good starter barrel horses, but if you want to go to the higher levels you need a horse with the build of a quarter horse.
