because there are lots of them in the wild so we don't mind if a few of them get "harvested" (means killed) for food or other products we make from whale parts. note: some countries continue to hunt endangered whales cause they don't care, or they think the species isn't in danger, or the economic rewards from the whales are too important (their reasons, not mine)
