Anytime your dog eats meat that has been seasoned before cooking, he/she runs the risk of having mild to severe medical problems associated with the stomach and intestinal track. Vomiting, bloating, and diarreah are common ailments associated with any pet (dog or cat) eating seasoned meat. The seasonings and spices humans use to enhance the flavor of our fish, poultry, beef, and pork, were not made for pet consumption. An animals digestive system is delicate and was not designed to breakdown plant matter, that is why they vomit after eating grass. Dogs and cats eat grass in order to induce vomiting so that they can eliminate what is in their stomach. If your dog starts vomiting, becomes bloated, and/or develops diarreah, keep a close eye on him/her and give them 24 hour access to lots of cool water. Your pet can become severely dehydrated and require medical attention or as in more severe cases your pets intestinal tract can become so full of gas that it can burst the intestinal tract and poison your pet from the inside out. If in the event your dog begins to experience any of the symptoms above after eating seasoned meat or even after getting into your garbage, you can help your pet get over his/her symptoms much quicker and even help avoid a trip to the vet, by giving your pet half a dose of a mild laxative. Metamucil in your dogs water will do wonders for your pets ailments and help relieve your pet of much of the pain and discomfort associated with vomiting, bloating, and diarreah. When in doubt, get your pet the medical attention it needs as soon as possible.
