It may have been a false pregnancy. I would try to breed her again.
It is pregnant, give the rabbit extra bedding where she has made her nest, be expecting up to 10 babies.
When You Find The Rabbits Humping Each Other!
yes it is very normal for a rabbit to take off the top of the nest when her babies are clear to see.
Yes you can move it but make sure that the mother isn't looking and that you wear gloves so that you don't put your scent on the nest or the babies
The first sign of a rabbit having her babies is when she starts to pull out her fur and make a small nest....then the rabbit will stay in the nest for a while...if u want u can look but do not touch the babies...if u touch them they will get ur sent and she will kill them
it is not actually eating it's fur it is just making a nest for it's babies or sometimes it makes the nest for itself to keep it warm trust me i have a rabbit
Remove and discard immediately.
Very seldom does a rabbit make a nest and then not have babies after 5 days. Your rabbit may have had a false pregnancy.
A male rabbit would not make the actual nest for the female but he would be very happy for his fur to be pulled out for the babies to have a comfortable nest. Any rabbit in the pen wouldn't mind the mother rabbit pulling there fur out for a nest because rabbits LOVE to be respected.
Mother rabbits are very gentle and careful when they jump in and out of the nest box they have to get in to nurse the babies, however, if someone or something frightens them they could jump on and squash their babies. A snake in the area will cause a rabbit to jump in and out erratically and they could kill all the babies unknowingly.
To safely and effectively get rid of a rabbit nest in your yard, you should wait until the nest is empty before removing it. Avoid disturbing the nest while the mother rabbit is still caring for her babies. Once the nest is empty, wear gloves and carefully remove it, placing the nest material in a sealed bag and disposing of it properly.
You can tell if a mother rabbit is feeding her babies by observing if she spends time in the nest, if the babies appear content and well-fed, and if the mother's belly looks full and she is producing milk.
