This is a great question as I'm sure that you're not the only one who has this on their mind.
Firstly, a tuxedo is a super formal outfit meant to be worn during big occasions such as weddings, prom night and other elaborate events such as a formal cocktail where the dress code is specified as "black tie" event.
Now whereas a traditional suit (preferably two button) allows much more flexibility as to where and how one can wear this, with a tuxedo, your options are quite limited.
A black suit accompanied by a white shirt, a black neck tie or bow tie can be worn at formal events where the dress code is NOT specified as "black tie".
However, one may argue that wearing a black suit with a black tie at a "black tie event" should suffice; technically, that is correct but it's not the social norm and doing so, may be frowned upon by the host.
Additionally, a traditional suit can also be worn at semi formal events, a dinner party, or even at a nice evening out with good company however, it's recommended that you don't wear a tie but that is a matter of personal preference.
a suit is just well um i cant tell you what a suit is but i know what a tuxedo is a tuxedo is the same as a suit except a tuxedo has black stripes going down the sides of both legs a suit does not have stripes
A Tuxedo. Would that be the same as a dinner suit. It may be. Depending on the definition of a dinner suit. A formal ball would entail a man wearing 'black tie' attire.
There is a six (6) letter word for it. It is called a tuxedo.
