You could treat the situation similar to dealing with a co-worker you don't get along with. Be polite if at all possible. It might help to have a sit-down talk with him and open the lines of communication. If the two of you could express to each other what it is that's causing the disagreements, you'll be one step ahead of where you are now and hopefully start healing the relationship.
