The most often made mistake that men make is when they adjust their neck tie in a way that lets it hang too short or very long. A properly worn neck tie is one that will graze the top of a man's pants to cover the pants buttons. While tying the neck tie up on the chest or belly is too high and covering the pants zipper is very low.
Second opinion; on-line resources state that the tie should touch
the belt buckle but should not cover it, as in this on-line picture:

The length of a neck tie should result in the tip of the tie sitting flush with the top of your belt buckle.
VIA MCO P1020.34F paragraph 3019 "The necktie will be tied so that the length will be between top and bottom of the belt buckle."
The proper way to tie a necktie is to do Four-in-hand Knot. It is a small tie knot that suits shirts with a narrow collar opening. It is suitable for most occasions.
The length depends on the formality of the occasion. For semi-formal events (when men wear suits), a cocktail dress is fine. For formal "black-tie" events, tea-length (mid-calf) to ballet-length (ankle-length) gowns are appropriate. For most formal "white-tie" events, gowns should be ballet-length or full-length (floor-length). (Full-length gowns are sometimes called "opera-length".) Debutantes should wear full-length gowns for their debuts. By the way, evening dress should usually be worn only after 6:00 p.m.
Five seconds for me.
An eight foot length of railroad tie weighs about 200 pounds. So a 10' tie should be about 250 lbs.
Hey Mike== There is no right length for tie rod threads. If the toe-in is set correctly, that is all that you needs to be concerned about. Good luckJoe
Perhaps you mean "tie up"? For example, "After capturing the criminal, the policeman tied him up."
Proper length in physics is the invariant measure of a distance between to separated events. It is considered as the ideal length in a space-time of space-like paths.
a shirt and tie...or maybe a suit?
I recommend wearing the proper clothing for the sport and tie your shoes.
If you're looking to make a tie, you could begin with the seven or five fold design. It is simply made by folding a length of silk or other material into a tie shape and using a saddle stitch to keep it together. If you get a used tie at a garage sale and take it apart slowly to see how it's made, that would help too. It also will give you a proper template to use when making yours. Ultimately, it may be easier and more economical to buy a skinny tie. They come in a variety of colors and are quite cheap.
