A reset in retail deals with product merchandising. The bay or bays holding the products being reset are generally emptied of old product and then "reset" with the same products in a different display configuration, with a combination of old and new product, or with completely new products, depending on the reset. Resets typically occur when a vendor rolls out a new or updated product line, a new vendor begins selling to the retailer, or to adjust for seasonal variations on product mix.
