You must be talking about Aegis Cave. Check the stone marker that you are talking about. A word, spelled in Unown, will appear. In the dungeon-not where the stone marker is, but the dungeon part of Aegis Cave- are Unown. If you defeat an Unown, it may drop a stone shaped like itself. You must collect the stones that spell out the word on the stone marker. Then, check the stone marker. Close your eyes(in the game) when told to. The stones that you collected should react with the stone marker, revealing a hidden stairway.
