The first thing you should do is read the conditions of the affiliate program to see if they forbid any marketing methods. The most common type of website that affiliates use is a Wordpress website hosted by a hosting provider. A domain name is bought from a company such as namecheap.com, this domain is then linked to a server at the hosting provider (Hostgator.com is an example of one of these. The affiliate will then go in and set up Wordpress. Once wordpress is setup you can start creating pages or posts to link to the affiliate program. There is a lot of free information, on the internet, about how to set up your domain name, hosting account and wordpress.

Because you have to register a web domain, (eg. yahoo.com) what some people do is buy up a bunch of domains that they think sound good and have value. When someone comes along and actually wants to use the site name, they have to buy it from the people who registered the domain name. While the people who just buy names en-mass still own it, they normally put up a bogus pages with allot of affiliate links, that is what a parked website is.
Finding a good affiliate network is not all that hard. Simply Google something like 'top affiliate networks.' Look through the first half a dozen or so networks that Google presents to you. When you find an affiliate network that grabs your attention, do another google search using the name of the network you've found and add the word 'reviews.' For example, type 'ClickBank reviews' in your browser search bar to find reviews on the affiliate network ClickBank. Read through half a dozen or so reviews to get an idea of how good or bad the network really is. Next go to the the Better Business Bureau and search the name of the network to see its rating. ClickBank presently (at the time of this post) has an A+ rating. It should be noted that not all businesses register with the BBB. However, this does not mean that a particular business that is not registered should be avoided. If the particular network you are researching is not registered with the BBB, look for social proof on platforms such as FaceBook and LinkedIn. An affiliate network that I'm involved with, for example, is not registered with the BBB. Yet it has been in business since 2005 and has never missed a commission payment run, ever! Plus you can find many good reviews about the company online. If you're interested to know more, you can check out a video about this company using the link in my bio. Have a great day. Paul Beamon
