Commission is where you pocket a percentage of the money from a product a customer bought. Door to door salesmen are the best example. They earn their wage from calculating it from the sales they have made and taking a percentage of it, rather than having a fixed wage. So the more you sell the more you earn.

What is a commision?

Money

When can I expect a commission check from Macy's?

That depends on what Macy's policies are with regards to you receiving comision and if they reward you with comision or just an hourly salary. Check with your boss / supervisor, they should know about that. I remember working in a store with commision but the whole store had to meet a certain amount of money for their entire sales goals of the day before the staff would see any commision, they never reached their sales goals and I never saw any commision from them.

How much commission would a real estate agent in Tennessee make off a 300000 home sale?

I would estimate anywhere from $3,000 - $7,000 depending on the commision percentage.

How does commision work?

commission is a percentage of a amount given to a party. It happens mostly in real estate. This is how it works Lets say you want to sell your house for $500,000, and the agent finds a buyer. Then they set a commission percentage[ lets say 10% ]. 10/100*500000=50000 now the seller has to pay both price of house and commission meaning buyer gives $550,000
