Yes.
Most alarm clocks of 1963 were 12 hour alarm clocks - they did not know the difference between am & pm, so you would have at most 1 hour sleep. There may have been some electronic alarm clocks of 1963 which did know about am & pm, in which case they would permit at most 13 hours of sleep.
When the Sun rise up NO. The alarm would go off in an hour because wind up alarm clocks do not have AM and PM settings.
12 pm is noon, 12 am is midnight
With an older alarm clock ... one with hands on the front and a wind-up key in the back ... you get one (1) hour of sleep, because the clock doesn't know the difference between AM and PM. With a more modern LED digital clock, you get thirteen (13) hours; the display has that little dot on the side, so you can tell the difference between AM and PM when you're setting the time or the alarm.

Digitial alarm clocks can show times in A.M. or P.M. settings. When you say 12 o'clock, do you mean A.M. or P.M. The police officer wrote down 3 A.M. but I meant I saw the robber at 3 P.M.

Double check to make sure: 1) you have AM/PM set right. 2) You have it set for the correct days. You can set the Droid to alarm only on the days you specify, and may have the setting wrong. 3) You have the correct alarm checked. 4) Your volume is turned up.

The time changed early in the morning of November 3, 2013. The clocks fell back - so if it was 9 PM yesterday, it's 8 PM today.
There is sufficient confusion about the use of 12 a.m. and 12 p.m. that to wake up at noon, it may be advisable to set the alarm for 11:59 a.m. Or, do a test to determine when your alarm will go off if you set it for 12:00 a.m.
