The face value of a coin is however much money a coin can be spent as. A nickel's face value is 5 cents because it can only be spent as 5 cents. For example:The face value of a One Shilling coin is One Shilling. The face value of a One Dollar coin is One Dollar. The face value of any coin or bank note is what is written on it.
For a coin it is just worth the value stamped on it i.e. the value on it's face So a common coin is worth face value, but a rare coin is worth more than face value.
Does a Ceaal coin have value?
The coin is face value.
Send it to a coin expert and they will most likely be able to tell you what it is worth.
we need to know what the coin is. Repost with a description of the legends on the coin along with diameter and weight.

Please report back to me and tell me the coin's denomination - is it a quarter eagle, a half eagle, etc. (?) and the coin's mint state.
Take it to a local coin collector.
With no denomination it's impossible to tell! See the related questions below.
One can learn about value of old coins on the website Coins About. Most coin value guides give you retail prices; that is, they tell you how much coin dealers are selling the coins for.
It depends on the denomination, condition and mint-marks. Without knowing this it is impossible to tell if you have a coin worth 5 cents or $5,000.
The best way to obtain an estimate of the value of a coin you possess, or have found, is to take it to a coin dealer and have it appraised. If you can describe the coin, post it here and maybe you can get some idea of what it may be worth.
You need to provide a denomination, all you've done is tell us you've got a Swiss coin. The value depends dramatically on the denomination, along with the condition.
It has significant value. It is worth a lot lets say about $1000 to $3000 depending on the buyer
