This will depend on many factors, but if you can measure the band, that would be your number. If you can fit the bra band on someone or something and stuff the cups to be full, you can measure the center of the cup. Subtract the band measurement from the cup measurement. For every inch you add a cup size. 1"=A, 2"=B, 3"=C, etc.

Of course this is assuming the bra is new and is not stretched out of shape. If your trying to find out a persons bra size I recommend they get a custom fitting (not a department store fitting) to find the correct size.

What are the different numbers for bra sizes in an A cup?

The different numbers before "A" in a bra size are the size of the band. A bra size 32A will fit a woman who is about 32 inches around the rib cage.

Is bra size A38 the same as size B36?

no... the letter is the cup size and the number is the measurement around your torso

How big is a 36a bra size?

Oh, what a lovely question! A 36A bra size typically means the band size is 36 inches around the ribcage, and the cup size is A. It's important to remember that bra sizes are just numbers and letters meant to help you find a comfortable fit, so embrace your unique size and feel confident in your own skin.

How do you determine bra size?

Bra size is composed of two parts, band size and cup size. Band size is a number, like 36. Cup size is a letter, like 'C'. To determine band size, measure with a tape around the chest under the breasts. If you get an even number, add '4' and if you get an odd number, add '5'. Example: 31 inches + 5 = size 36. (Sometimes the circumference of the chest over the breasts is measured instead. In this case '5' is not added to the result because for most women 'underbust + 5' approximately equals overbust.) To determine cup size, measure around the chest at the fullest part of the breasts while wearing a bra. From this number subtract your band size. A one inch difference = A cup, two inches = B cup, three inches = C cup, etc. Example: 39 inches - 36 band size = 3 = C cup. Bra size is 36C. The problem is that this traditional method of bra sizing usually gives a size that doesn't fit well and contributes to the belief that "80% of women wear the wrong size bra." An alternative method of bra measuring has been developed by a plastic surgeon. Band size is determined by the traditional formula but cup size is determined by direct measurement of the breast.
