There is no set amount of time you need to go to school. You can use your math skills with a two year degree, four year degree or an advanced degree. An internship would be a good idea for this career.
Minors won't usually go to jail, but you can expect some sort of trouble anyway - for example, be thrown out of school, and have trouble finding another school that will accept you.
