As of my last update, there were approximately 1,000 qualified actuaries in South Africa. This number can fluctuate due to new entrants into the profession and those retiring or leaving the field. There are a few different acronyms of BRICS however the most popular acronym is Basic research in Computer Science. It can also refer to five countries which are Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

Otherwise just take maths and statistics - you will still receive some excemptions from the board exams, just not as many as if you study a specific actuarial science degree.
