A few of Einstein's major works:

  1. explanation of Brownian Motion (this was one of the founding parts of Quantum Mechanics)
  2. explanation of Photoelectric Effect (this lead directly to the development of Quantum Mechanics)
  3. Special Relativity
  4. General Relativity
  5. coinventor of a refrigerator with no moving parts or seals (this eventually got used in liquid metal cooled nuclear reactors)
When he got his Nobel Prize there were still issues with his theories of Relativity, so it was given only in recognition of the first two.

He did many other things of lesser significance.

Although Einstein was one of the founders of Quantum Mechanics, he rejected it in its final form due to its nondeterministic statistical nature. Unfortunately after this he largely stagnated, spinning his wheels on trying to develop what he called the "Unified Field Theory" that would combine Relativity and Quantum Mechanics into one fully deterministic theory.
