The Bible is our 'Owners Manual' on how to live successful lives. It's not prudish and speaks openly about sex , whether it is approved by God, or not, and why. When God created Adam and Eve, and performed, in essence, the first marriage ceremony, he settled them in the Garden of Eden with instructions to take care of the earth and it's animals, and to remain faithful to their creator and live forever. (Gen 2:15-25). He also told them to "..be fruitful, become many and fill the earth…" (Genesis 1:28). Clearly, sexual relations were expected and encouraged. So, sex is a gift from God to add depth, joy, fulfillment (Prov 5:17-19) and, of course, children, to a marriage. The married couple then are responsible to stay together(Eph 5:31) and raise their offspring in the wisdom of God (Deut 6:5-9)(Eph 6:1-4).When a man and woman marry, the "two will become ONE flesh" in God's eyes (Gen 2:24). Because of this, the Bible also warns against sexual relations OUTSIDE of marriage, on many occasions. These are: Fornication (Sex without marriage)(1 Corin 6:9&10)(1 Corin 6:18)(Gal 5:19-21) Adultery ( Sex with someone who is NOT your spouse) (Matt 15:19)(Matt 5:27-32) Bestiality (sex with animals) (Ex 22:19) These types of sexual relations are not even to be mentioned among holy people(Eph 5:3-5), never mind practiced, because they are opposed to God's purpose and direction. Marriage is a lasting commitment, in God's eyes, but fornication is so serious, it is the ONLY scriptural ground for divorce (Matt 19:9)
