Dimes were never made of gold. For one thing, they'd be worth a lot more than 10 cents!
Your coin has either been plated for use in jewelry or exposed to something (heat, a chemical) that changed its color. If the date is 1965 or later, it's only worth a dime. If the date is earlier, it's at least worth about $1 for the silver that underlies whatever is on its surface.
