King James 1566-1625 created his version of "The Holy Bible" to void the Catholic Church and their teaching of Jesus Christ. James I's impact on English literature is considerable, not least because of his encouragement of and participation in the translation of the Bible into English (1611), the translation that many people still consider the best, and which bears his name, the King James Bible. That, above everything he wrote, is James's monument, but his literary works deserve some credit, and he is always a pleasure to read.
Jan Hus [c. 1372-July 6, 1415], whose last words were, "In a hundred years, God will raise up a man whose calls for reform cannot be suppressed." God may have decided to listen to that dying request. For Martin Luther [November 10, 1483-February 18, 1546] wrote his 95 theses on the Power and Efficacy of Ingulgences, in contention against the Roman Catholic Church 102 years later, on October 31, 1517. John Rogers [c.1500-February 4, 1555], who was the first Protestant martyr under Queen Mary I [February 18, 1516-November 17, 1558] of England. He was denied the opportunity of a final meeting with his wife and children. According to French Ambassador Antoine, 1st comte de Noailles [1504-1562], Rogers' family, friends, and most of those who were forced to attend therefore compensated the unseemly royal denial by "comforting him in [at his execution] in such a manner that it seemed as if he had been led to a wedding" William Tyndale [c. 1494-October 6?, 1536], whose last words were, "Lord! Open the King [Henry VIII, June 28, 1491-January 28, 1547] of England's eyes." God may have decided to listen to that dying request. For it was granted, in 1611, with the publication of the Bible version that's ka the King James [VI of Scotland, and I of England and Ireland, June 19, 1566-March 27, 1625]. But the limitations on the granting of the divine request were that the royal son of the beheaded Mary, Queen of Scots [December 8, 1542-February 8, 1587] took much of what Tyndale had done, without letting him get the final credit.
