Is the Bible the word of truth?

For Bible literalists, The Bible is entirely true and inerrant.

However, even many Christians recognise that a book with so many contradictions and historical erros can not be regarded as literally the word of truth. They regard it as inspired, rather than infallible.

II Timothy 3:16,17 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works."

Despite much skepticism and criticism, the Bible stands the test of time. It continues to be respected as worthy of in-depth study, providing truth many stake their lives and futures upon. Since its writing, revered scholars who insist it is filled with nonsense and contradiction have not produced a more highly valued publication.

II Peter 1:20,21 "Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost."

The Bible provides comprehensive answers regarding all existence and every part of life. It enlightens us regarding the spiritual realm, which transcends and supersedes our physical world. It explains the new birth and our relationship with God and gives us insight into our own selves.

Galatians 1:11,12 "But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ."
