He was from the line of Abraham.
The former kingdom of Judah is now part of modern Israel and partly in the Palestinian Territory. Judah was a small inland enclave surrounding the city of Jerusalem and quite separate from the kingdom of Israel to its north. Biblical tradition holds that in former times, Judah and Israel had formed a United Monarchy, also known as Israel, but noted archaeologists such as Israel Finkelstein say that this was never the case. Judah and Israel were always separate and had their own separate culture, pottery styles and even their own separate dialects of the Hebrew language.
King Josiah was a descendent of King David and an ancestor of Jesus Christ - all from the tribe of Judah.
The Kingdom of Israel was finally destroyed by the Assyrians in 722 BCE and many of the people who did not flee to Judah or Egypt deported, never to return. So, in the time of Jesus, there was no Kingdom of Israel and there had not been for over seven centuries. The land of the Israelites had become Samaria, the land of the Samarians, or Samaritans. Judea and Samaria were under Roman rule.
Judah was the fourth son of Jacob (Israel) by Leah. He became the leader amongst the sons. The tribe of Judah is named after him, and many of the modern Jews are descended from him.
Christ never made the statement he was king of the jews, that statement was made by Pilot. You have to remember where Christ was crucified. He was crucified in Judaea, where the tribe of Judah was located (one of the 12 tribes of Israel). People from that area, were referred to as Jews. Romans were not studied in the scrolls of the Hebrews so they simply called everyone from that region Jews. Later that will cause great confusion as many that claim to be Jews because they are from Judaea are not of the tribe of Judah, nor the house of Israel. Those must be kept separate. Read John chapter 8, where Christ identifies sons of Cain who were claiming to be Jews. Romans call all people from Judaea "Jews" and when those of that area proclaimed Christ king, the Romans simply put 2 and 2 together and called him King of the Jews (In Mockery). The word Jew therefore is simply a loose term to indicate people who lived in Judaea, it in no way indicates all those called Jews are from the tribe of Judah, and John 8 bears this out. In the book of Luke, you will discover Christ's mother was of the tribe of Levi, of the house of Aaron (priest line of the tribes of Israel). In the book of Matthew you will discover that Mary's husband was from the tribe of Judah and of the house of David (David was the King line over all tribes of Israel), Therefore Christ obtained both titles King and High Priest over the tribes of Israel, and after his death as the sacrifice for our sins for one and all time, he earned those titles over all people. This is the very reason our forefathers would not concede to having Kings in the United States, in their understanding we already had a King over which no man could be greater and under which every man should humble himself ... Christ.
No, Jesus the Christ was born a Jew from the tribe of Judah in Bethlehem in Israel.
Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah in Israel. He would be Jewish as a man.
Judah
Yes, Jesus did go to the land of Judah, the southern kingdom of Israel.
Jesus Christ is God/ Son of God. You can't get more religious then that. Jesus was born in Israel to the tribe of Judah and followed the true Law of Moses, but not any of the man made laws that the religious leaders had made up.
David was from the tribe of Judah.
Judah was to be the kingly tribe, this being narrowed down later to the family of David. It is, therefore, fitting that Jesus Christ bears the title "the Lion that is of the tribe of Judah." (Revelation 5:5) And both Joseph and Mary belong to the tribe of Judah and are descendants of King David. So the heirship rights of Jesus will be doubly established. (Matthew 1:2-16; Luke 3:23-33)
Jewish, of the tribe of Judah.
Jesus is in the tribe of Judah this is found in Matthew 1:2
Christ came through the lineage of Judah, or the house of David.
The Tribe of Judah started with Jacob's son, Judah. Jesus came in the flesh through this tribe, but Jesus did not have any children. The tribe of Judah continued through others like Jesus' half brothers and other cousins.
The term 'Jew' comes from the 4th son of Israel, Judah, who God gave the 'Sceptre' promise to. Christians believe the promise was fulfilled by Jesus Christ.
