To turn a color gray you need to add its contemporary color (the color opposite of it on a color wheel). Greens contemporary color is red but it will probably be to dark so add some white to get a nice gray.
To make the color brown from green, you can mix in a bit of red or orange. This will neutralize the green and create a brown hue. Start by adding small amounts of the red or orange color to the green until you achieve the desired shade of brown.

For the green they add yellow and blue color aditives. For the brown they add red, blue, and yellow color aditives. Simple as that.
There is no way to make a red item green by combining another color with it. Because the color green is a complimentary color of red, the resulting color will always be a shade of brown. If you must make a red color green, then you must paint over the color with opaque pigments.
Yellow, I believe. Not yellow. If you are using equal amounts it would make grey. Blue and yellow mixed make green then add equal amount of red becomes grey.
