In newer designs Ive seen where Ster/10K indicates that the ring is sterling silver, plated with 10K gold. In older designs, the 2 stamps usually mean that part of the ring is sterling and part of the ring is 10K gold.
There are two reasons a ring could be stamped with 14k and 925 1) The ring is made from both 14k gold and Sterling Silver (925). 2) The ring is made from Vermeil which can be made from 14k gold thickly plated over Sterling Silver.

"c2" likely refers to the quality of the diamond; it may stand for "colorless, grade 2." "China on a ring" could mean that the ring was manufactured or sold in China.
I have a 14k gold gold pocket watch case that has the same hallmark on it as well. I still haven't found out who the maker is.
Well, it can be pronounced with 1 (strait) or 2/1.5 (ster-ait.) Depends on how you say it.

Yes and no. They both derive from an Indo-European root ster-, but there seem to be three entirely different such roots. The first ster- means stiff or hard, and is the root of steroid. Ster- 2 means spread, and is the root of strew and straw. Ster-3 means star and is the root of star and asteroid.
