The Bible describes love in the Book of 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8 in these words: " Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous. It does not brag, does not get puffed up, does not behave indecently, does not look for its own interests, does not become provoked. It does not keep account of the injury. It does not rejoice over unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, endures all things. Love never fails. In the famous description of love, the apostle Paul uses the same Greek term ( a.ga'pe ) that is found at 1 John 4: 8-10, where John describes " the love of God." which is the very personification of love. Christian love is unselfish and is guided by principle, which may not always include warm affection; the one who shows such love does so because it is the right thing to do. For example a person may feel deeply hurt. however, he shows Christian love by refusing to "keep account of the injury. " ( 1 Corinthians 13: 5 ) It is more of a mental determination to apply the righteous standards established by God. Read Matthew 5: 44. So to answer your question, concerning what the Bible teaches about LOVE? We are encouraged to always have the right loving attitude in all aspects of our life, even when facing adversity.
