willam oughtred invented the abbreviations of 'sin' and 'cos'. I'm certain abbreviations existed before this.
Abbreviations are acceptable in an informal situation or when everyone knows what the abbreviations mean. For example, you could talk about NASA in any setting, but you wouldn't say LOL in a business meeting.

From your homeroom teacher
Depends on how it is being used. There was a meeting of all the homeroom moms. The homeroom mom's cookies were very good. Throughout the school all of the homeroom moms' children were well behaved.
Homeroom is typically written as one word.
Homeroom 230 is House 2 on the upper floor.
yesterday i recieved my homeroom number for my first day of middle school.
I think the role of a homeroom representative is to go to the meeting and get information to tell the class.

The term "Homeroom" can have different meanings depending on the school and area. The main use of the word "homeroom" is in reference to where the student will keep their items and generally do the important, school-wide activities. Lockers may be located in the homeroom, and the weekly schedule may be passed out here (or other documents). Homeroom could also mean you share two classes with the same teacher. One class may be a standard subject (English or Biology, for example) while the homeroom period may be a short class to get all of the important information out.
The abbreviations are PL.
