Zacharias was not the High Priest. In the Christian Scripture, Zacharias is the father of John the Baptist. He is a priest in the temple, but not the High Priest.

However, that is more of a metaphor than an accepted fact and the epithet "priest of mathematics" is practically unknown among historians and mathematicians.

In the Bible, Aaron, the high priest, is described as wearing a gold earring. This is mentioned in the book of Exodus where it signifies his position and role as the high priest.
The Bible says Zacharias was a priest in the temple at Jerusalem.

St. Elizabeth's husband was Zacharias (or Zechariah), a priest mentioned in the New Testament. They are known for being the parents of John the Baptist. According to the Gospel of Luke, both were described as righteous and blameless in the sight of God.

Zacharias, also known as Zechariah, was from the tribe of Levi. He was a priest during the time of King Herod, as mentioned in the Gospel of Luke in the New Testament. His wife, Elizabeth, was also a descendant of Aaron, highlighting their Levitical heritage.
In the New Testament, Zacharias was the father of John the Baptist. It is the Greek form of Zechariah. In the Old Testament, Zechariah was a priest and a prophet who, more than other minor prophets, gave many messianic prophecies. He encouraged the rebuilding of the temple.
The high priest entered the Holy of Holies once a year on Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, as described in the Hebrew Bible. This solemn occasion involved the priest performing rituals to atone for the sins of the people of Israel, including the offering of sacrifices and the sprinkling of blood. The Holy of Holies was considered the most sacred part of the Temple, where the presence of God dwelled, and the high priest had to follow strict guidelines to enter.
There was no set number of years that a priest could serve as the high priest. He served as long as he lived. See Talmud, Yoma 9a.
Annas was the father-in-law of Caiaphas. He is mentioned in the Bible at:Luke 3:2 "Annas and Caiaphas being the high priests, the word of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness."John 18:13 "And led him away to Annas first; for he was father in law to Caiaphas, which was the high priest that same year. "John 18:24 "Now Annas had sent him bound unto Caiaphas the high priest."Acts 4:6 "And Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem."
