I'm pretty sure that the answer to that question is that the mixed up numbers are codes to a clue for you! This is what i figured out: The numbers spell out, "Anne Cahill Did Not Drown." This is how i figured it out. If you use a letter from the alphabet to substitute a number then it spells that out. For instance 1=A, 2=B, 3=C, 4=D, and so on. So on the first page where the numbers are surrounded by a BLACK circle instead of white, and where the numbers start to get weird you start using the code. So after page 128 where there's a 1, use the code. The 1=A. Now turn the page. There are two 14's. They equal N since N is the 14th letter in the alphabet. So far it spells out Ann. Now turn the page again. You should see a 5 on the left and no number on the right page. The 5 equals E. The black circle with no number in it is actually a space so you can figure out all the words easier. So far you have Anne. Try figuring out the rest on your own. I'm pretty sure the other answer is right: that the numbers have to do with the next book. I haven't read it yet so I don't know if there is such a person as Anne Cahill, and whether or not she drowned. :-) And, if you're wondering why I am so sure that the numbers are a code, is that usually you don't find words when you do this trick with numbers. You usually find words such as djsfhiebhcibwficbgei. LOL!
