There are three groupings of the Apostles according to Bullenger's work (Appendix 141).

Of those groupings there are only written works for 5 of the 12 apostles. Therefore, there are other apostles for which we currently have no written works preserved. Matthias is not alone in his disappearance from the written works.

Remember John was in prison when he was given the Revelation by Christ's Angel. The Apostles were hated by the established temple of the day. Challenging the belief of the people and having power to do miracles, will not set well with either government or existing religious systems, as it undermines both. The apostles continually ran into this conflict.

Is the bible currently under a rewrite - If so by whom?

The bible has been rewritten by tons of people. And once the prophets speak and it's written noone has the authority to change it. "for what I the Lord have spoken I have spoken and I excuse not myself, whether by my voice or the voice of my servants it is the same." In my church we believe in the Bible "as far as it is translated correctly" I love the Bible and it is a great book however we also have the Book of Mormon, which is like the Bible but it was written here in the America's to be a testament of Christ on the American continent before the days of communication between east and west. Go to mormon.org if you want to learn more. if not that's cool

Where is the bible reference for the thirteenth disciple?

Matthias, an abbreviated form of Mattathias, meaning a gift of God, was a disciple of Jesus Christ who was among those who witnessed everything from the ministry of John The Baptist to Christ's ascension. Although Matthias is mentioned specifically by name only once in The Bible, he most certainly played a prominent role in the early church after having been selected to replace Judas Iscariot among The Twelve Apostles, and he most certainly will, as the Scriptures below make plain, be a prominent member of the Kingdom of God.
