it is extruded through a mold. metal pipe is poured semi molten through a mold and forced out the other side. plastic is molten and forced thru a mold as well. there used to be a play-doh machine that would make a play-doh tube. then you could see how it's done.

What is the difference between seamless and welded pipe fittings?

Seamless (SMLS) pipe is formed by drawing a solid billet over a piercing rod to create the hollow shell. Seamless pipe withstands pressure better than other types, and is often more easily available than welded pipe.Welded pipe is formed by rolling plate and welding the seam. The weld flash can be removed from the outside or inside surfaces using a scarfing blade. The weld zone can also be heat treated to make the seam less visible.

What is the difference between hot finish seamless pipe and cold drawn seamless pipe?

The main difference between hot-finished seamless pipes and cold-drawn seamless pipes is the manufacturing process and the resulting dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and mechanical properties. Hot-finished seamless pipes are processed at elevated temperatures, making them suitable for various industrial applications where strength and dimensional requirements can be met by the finished product. Cold-drawn seamless pipes are further processed by drawing the steel through a die, typically at room temperature. This process can provide tighter dimensional tolerances, a smoother surface finish, and improved mechanical properties, depending on the material and processing conditions. Hot-finished pipes are often selected for general industrial and high-temperature applications, while cold-drawn pipes are useful where precision, dimensional consistency, and surface quality are important. The best option depends on the steel grade, pipe dimensions, operating conditions, and applicable standards. Buyers should compare the required specifications before selecting a seamless pipe for their application.

Difference between seamless and erw pipe?

ERW (Electric Resistance Welding) pipe is manufactured by rolling metal and then welding it longitudinally across its length. Seamless pipe is manufactured by extruding the metal to the desired length; hence ERW pipe has a welded joint in its cross-section, while seamless pipe does not have any joint in its cross-section through-out its length.

What is meant by seamless copper pipes?

seamless pipe actually mean a non- welded pipe, (the word pipe says that it has a central cavity, means hole) this means there would b no scars or marks on the surface of the pipe. Seamless copper pipes are of the same type,,initially copper billets are produced by extruding the raw copper and after obtaining the cylindrical copper billet of required dimensions it is transferred to Mannesmann Mill (famous for extruding seamless pipes),, where the central cavity is initially made by piercing, and then drawing it (with a mandrel attached), into a long tubular copper,, shubhakar.nidadavolu@gmail.com
