When drawers become worn and the slides need to be replaced, it is a good idea to go with a slow closing model. These slides are becoming incredibly popular and are featured in many high-end homes. A DVD player drawer that is stuck open or partly open quite often has been pushed on one of its corners, not in the middle toclose it. The result is that the drawer is slightly sideways with respect to the grooved slides that it travels in, causing the drawer to wedge tightly where it is. You can try finding the corner of the drawer that is farthest into the grooved slides, and pull it firmly out a tiny amount. Don't push your luck . . . you may break the drawer. If that doesn't work, try removing the top of the player by taking out a number of screws. Then you can look right down on the entire drawer mechanism, and it is usually easy to gently wiggle the drawer around until it clicks back into place.
