∙ 11y agoThe main stop valve in any steam turbine is the emergency trip valve. This valve is manually opened and will close automatically under emergency conditions.
This is usually coupled with a manual isolation valve so that repairs can be made on the main stop when needed. The throttle valve comes after the main stop and is used to admit steam to the steam chest in a controllable manner.
All the emergency trips on a turbine will activate the trip mechanism for the main stop individually, closing off steam to the turbine immediately.
