I'm not real sure. Could be one or several possibilities. Turning off the lights reduces the electrical power demand. The more electrical power required will cause the generators to work harder which reduces the effectivity of the engines during take-off, the critical part of flight when the aircraft needs as much thrust as possible. Many passengers like to look out the windows and see the city. Turning out the lights reduces glare and allows you to better see in the dark. (Of course, they place the windows too low for most people to look out of them.)

Hot Tub Controls have two primary functions. A Hot Tub Control consists of two primary parts, a Control Panel up on the top, and a Controller inside the cabinet of the Hot Tub. The Controller usually consists of two primary parts, a Relay Control Board and a Water Heater. All of the equipment is connected to the Control Board, including the Heater. When you press a button on the Control Panel to turn something on or off, the message is sent down to the Control Board, and a Relay, or remote switch, is closed or opened to control the equipment. A SmartControl is much more intelligent and does a whole lot more as far as controlling a Hot Tub and other things in your back yard, displaying Video on the screen, reading your Emails, and surfing the Internet. Landing lights are placed at the airports. Airplanes do not have them. They two or three blinking lights which they put on when they fly at night. Airplanes absolutely DO have landing lights. They generally turn on landing lights when on final, established on an approach, or in general, a few minutes prior to landing. Many pilots use variations of the pre-landing check or GUMPBLES while on final or just before...
