It depends on the kind of vaccine. Injections of Flu vaccines can not be given to infants under 6 months old, as is true for many vaccines since an infant's immune system is not developed enough for a proper response to vaccinations until after 6 months. Nasal sprays containing attenuated flu virus vaccines can not be given to children under two. Ask your pediatrician what vaccines should be given and when.
anti measles vaccine is given at 9 months of age because before that the child has already got anti measles antibodies derived from her mother and the vaccine would be unable to elicit the response. At 9 months , we assume (in case of developing nations) that there are no maternal antimeasles antibodies left
Children who have measles., or have had the disease in the previous four weeks, have a substantially increased risk of developing severe or fatal diarrhea or dysentery (there is some evidence that the increased risk lasts up to six months after measles). Because of the strong relationship between measles and serious diarrhea, and the effectiveness of measles vaccines, measles immunization is a very cost-effective measure for reducing diarrhea morbidity and deaths. Measles vaccine given at 9 months of age can prevent up to 25% of diarrhea-associated deaths in children under 5 years of age.
The Center for Disease Control recommends that Measles/Mumps/Rubella vaccines be given to children starting with the first dose at 12 - 15 months of age and the second between 4 - 6 years of age.
stay clean wash hands cover mouth with elbow when you cough. With the MMR vaccine. (measles, mumps, rubella).yes you can get you MMR vaccinations done. It stands for Measles Mumps Rubella and it is a group of vaccinations that make sure you dont catch measlesIsolation (vaccinations help).Stay away from people with measels. Wear a protective mask to prevent breathing in germs.
Pulse Polio vaccines are given to children of 1-5 age.
The measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccines are given to children under the age of five.
When measles vaccine is given too early, maternal antibodies that the baby got before birth interfere with the body's ability to develop an immune response to the vaccine. This blunting from maternal antibodies doesn't affect all vaccines, but hampers response to the MMR and varicella vaccines, so these are given after twelve months (not 9 months).
In pulse polio programme, polio vaccine is given to all the children below the age of 5 years irrespective of there vaccination schedule, all at a time. This will reduce the burden of polio virus in society drastically.
Treatment for measlesSpecific treatment for measles has not been discovered. The patient will recover within a week without using any vaccine. To reduce the fever or pain acetaminophen (paracetamol) may be used. For prevention purposes vaccine is administered to the children of 18 months with sencond dose before age of 4 or 5 years. How does measles vaccine workVaccine of measles contain alive viruses (called antigens). The alive antigen can reproduce inside the human body but they do not damage host because they are weakened in laboratory to the point where they are still alive and able to reproduce but can not cause serious illness. When this vaccine is injected into the human body, the T type lymphocytes (White blood cells) detect the type of viruses in it. Then B type lymphocytes produce antibodies against these viruses. The viruses reproduce inside human body therefore the lymphocytes produce more antibodies against this specific type of viruses. Antibodies bind to the viruses, stop their activity and destroy them. Now the viruses of vaccine have been destroyed but the antibodies against them are still present and they prevent the actual viruses (harmful) of measles to cause illness. These antibodies are memory cell for this specific type of viruses. Why vaccine is not used for cureWhen the actual viruses of vaccine enter your body, your immune system prevents you (the process is similar to that process which occurs when the vaccine viruses are injected), so you do not need vaccine. The symptoms of measles will last after 5-10 days. The vaccine is only used for prevention (and vaccine viruses do not cause actual disease). Can you get measles againIf you have caught the measles then you will not get measles again because your body already has antibodies against the measles viruses. But what are the antibodiesAntibodies are globular proteins which are present in blood. Each antibody binds to a specific antigen, antibody for a specific antigen should have a shape and structure that is able to fit into this virus. Then it will be able to inhibit the activity of this virus. Why measles vaccine is administered to the children of 18 monthsMeasles vaccine is administered to the children of 18 months because prior to that age, the baby's immune system is not mature enough to produce antibodies against the antigens of vaccine.
This happens because before the age of 6 months the child may still have some of the mother's antibodies from either passing through the placenta or from breast feeding. This means that the antibodies will recognise the vaccination as foreign and so destroy the cells so it does not work ~ hope that helps babe :)
The DTaP vaccine is given to children in the upper leg. They should get this vaccine at 2 months old, 4 months old, 6 months old, 15 to 18 months old, and between 4 and 6 years of age.
The normal series of measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine is two injections. Depending on your age, occupation, and clinical status, your health care provider may have a different recommendation.
