The things that you should NOT do in (any type of) First Aid (while treating) are: * Panic (try to stay calm, no matter how big the situation is). * Trying to do something that you are not trained or qualified to do, for example, giving CPR on a unconscious person. * Treating without consent (permission) from the patient/s. You must ask if you can help or perform First Aid; it is not a case where you just say "I'm going to this and that." There is one exception to this and that is if a person is unconscious or unresponsive, you must assume that you have permission to perform CPR or whatever treatment is needed. * Slapping a person who is hysterical or panicking. This is something that you must NEVER do, no matter how much you think it will work. The person who has being slapped can sue the First Aider and this may also result in the same First Aider being fired from job and/or expelled from any clubs/organisations that he/she was a member of. Another thing that is important is: NEVER enter an area that is known to be unsafe; this will put you (the First Aider) at risk and may also result in further problems with the patient/s at the scene. For example, if there is fire, call for local fire service. If and when the scene has been made safe, you (the First Aider) can then enter (but only after being told it is safe). The above are the most important things that you should NOT do at any scene at any time.
