Proper body jewellery is non magnetic and non reactive but the hospital has no way of knowing how the jewellery will react in the field, so better safe than sorry. So all metal regardless of what type of metal it may be must be removed.

So that's where it's nice to have an in with your local professional body piercer, they can prepare* the jewellery (*remove beads from captive bead rings) so you can remove it your self or they can remove it just before your procedure. Then you can return to see the piercer and he/she can reinsert all your jewellery once you are done with your scan, x-ray or MRI.
