No... x-rays pictures are taken in a similar way as you would use an 35mm camera to take an ordinary photograph. The film used in hospitals is sensitive only to x-rays instead of 'ordinary' light. They can be viewed simply by shining a light through them. However - using a computer to store the pictures, simply allows doctors to share the images instantly with colleagues who may be hundreds or thousands of miles away.
