Please see your dentist for a permanent solution; a temporary way to ease the pain is with simple pain medicine, or a numbing solution such as Orajel or Anbesol. Also, avoid very hot and cold foods/liquid, which can irritate the tooth.

I am a "Road Warrior" and at times when I cannot get to a dentist fast so I try everything. I have gone through the Tylenol, Asprin, Advil and found the BEST is Aleve (Naproxen Sodium) for those frugal folks.

I take three Aleve and about 10 to 15 minutes later the pain is tolerable and about 10 to 15 more minutes the pain is gone for the most part and I can continue on without trying anything and everything to make it go away. Funny enough, the Aleve helps me faster than Vicodin does...

Do you say i have a toothache or i have toothache?

Both phrases can be used, but "I have a toothache" is more commonly accepted in English. The term "toothache" is treated as a noun that refers to a specific condition, so including "a" makes it grammatically correct. However, some people may say "I have toothache" in more informal contexts, especially in British English.
