My dentist said it was going to take 2 years
It is a rather long time to have braces on... but before you tell the dentist to take them off, get a second opinion from another dentist in your area... Hope that helps ~Coeur
Maybe, when the dentist tugs on the bracket.

Technically, a dentist could do it if he had the training, but in practice, it's going to be an orthodontist. Dentists usually don't have the training to deal with orthodontics.
Braces work by applying pressure on your teeth to move them into the correct position. As your teeth shift, the wire that connects them is tightened to maintain the pressure needed for proper alignment. This process can take several months to a few years, depending on the severity of your condition and how well you follow your dentist's advice on maintenance. Dental Braces Treatment
this is what my dentist said to me... ' a teenagers skeleton will change roughly every 3 months then you get into your twenties your skeleton changes every 3 years.' so yes it will take longer, but for 3mm which isn't that much it will take some time before you see any difference
If you have a sore tooth from braces or separator's. A good idea is to take 1 or 2 pain reliever's.
