Depends on what speciality the doctor you are visiting has.
Family practice: $95 to $265
Specialist: $115 to $325
Rheumatologist: $91 to $137
It is highly dependent on the location as well. Urgent Care offices usually publish their cash prices. You will be billed different prices when you use insurance.
A University Physicians office in Tucson cost me $263. A visit with a Specialist at the facility cost $125. A well woman exam in Benson,AZ cost my wife $276. We drove these distances to avoid what we considered exorbitant charges by our Sierra Vista, AZ family physician. He charges $126 per visit. My Michigan insurance pays about $50 per visit so I'm either going to have to move or die!
Urgent care centers typically post their cash price for the various levels of office visit. However, that may not be what you will get charged if you use insurance. If you carry an insurance that pays a fixed amount regardless of what the doctor charges you, you should ask for the cash rate to see if it would be cheaper. In the Pacific NW, you can book a doctor office visit at published prices on www.sprighealth.com.
Traditionally, doctors set their own fees. As well, there are various levels of office visits based on time spent by the physician and the level of complexity of the problem. A brief visit for a follow up would be cheaper than a visit for a complex problem and/or problems that required more time by the doctor to assess. You cannot compare visit from one doctor to another without knowing which level of visit you were charged for and which insurance you carry.
