it depends where you are. Where I am -Ontario Canada- Midwives are free, they are covered by the government. but in Alberta, Canada, they arnt covered so you pay whatever they charge. my friend there paid a midwife from the States $1,000.00 US just for the birth -and that's not including all the home visits throughout the pregnancy- Im not sure what it is in the US.
