I realize all of these questions are singular, but I do believe I have seen this question 25+ times. Seriously when you work at a **** job, you ask how much does it make? When you choose a job----Career such a Emergency Medicine it is very difficult for me to wrap my head around the idea that so many people ask that same redundant question over and over......Some careers are not measured in salary, but in the non-monetary value that one receives everyday, in every incident, every time you are able to assist someone. Until you have held a bag that breathes air into someones lungs, stroked the hair of a frightened woman, made silly raspberries and faces at a scared little baby girl, or straddled a man in a ditch with no recognizeable face intact you have no right to ask "how much do I make?" Because that question sounds pathetic after living the life of an EMT. So instead of asking that I challenge you to step outside your own box and help someone today, or at the very least thank someone who does.

I agree with the above answer that the EMT job is rewarding beyond monetary value. Unfortunately I don't believe they are fairly paid for the responsibility they undertake.

Most of my EMT experience has been volunteer so my pay was simply helping others but as a career you have to address your finances also.

Many Career EMTs supplement their income with additional jobs possibly training others in the field.
