There is a huge difference in salary between different regions and especially between big cities and small towns. There is also a tremendous range between GPs and Family Practice on the low end up to a variety of surgeons and specialists on the high end.

The US average for GP, family practice, pediatrics and internal medicine is about $150,000.

Most of the more common specialties pay $200,000 to $250,000 with a few a lot higher.

Working in the east or northeast pays about $30,000 more than the other regions. Working in an urban medical center pays $30,000 (or better) more than inner city, suburbs, or rural.
