As a Paramedic I would unboubtly argue Yes. However, as I persue higher learning in medicine my initial thought was changed to No. Here's why, paramedics are very well trained in their field of expertise and can recognize signs & symptoms of medical and traumatic emergencies but do not get to diagnose. A teacher may be an educator a mother a therapist and a babysitter at school but that doesn't mean they psychiatrists they're teachers. Paramedicine is protocol driven and its takes not just knowledge but also a great deal of skill to appropriately place the pt into a protocol that fits the best. And there isn't always a perfect protocol (some pt's don't read the textbook). Under that blanket of following protocols technically makes paramedics extremely well qualified technicians. My EMS family will hate me for this but only last year was the title EMT-P replaced by just Paramedic. The title is still and emergency medical technician trained at the level of paramedic.
