Licorice is also used for/ or in: cough syrups, mouth ulcers, peptic ulcers, canker sores, a mild laxative and a topical antiviral agent for the shingles, (a pain full rash, that mainly hits people who suffered very mildly with the chicken pox as a child, or had never been exposed!)

BUT! With ALL things, everything should be consumed in moderation. I suffer from high blood pressure. Licorice should not be consumed in excess of 50mg per day, if my clculations are correct.
