I DO BELIEVE YOU MEANT TO ASK, IS BLACK LICORICE "STILL" GOOD FOR YOUR HEALTH?

THE ANSWER IS YES IT IS!

It's good for tooth aches, but not as good as a fresh clove placed between cheek and gums! Licorice is also used for/ or in: cough syrups, mouth ulcers, peptic ulcers, canker sores, a mild laxative and a topical antiviral agent for the shingles, (a pain full rash, that mainly hits people who suffered very mildly with the chicken pox as a child, or had never been exposed!)

Licorice is also helpful in oral or genital herpes. It is also used to relieve a spasmodic cough.

BUT! With ALL things, everything should be consumed in moderation. I suffer from high blood pressure. Licorice should not be consumed in excess of 50mg per day, if my clculations are correct. ( check with your doctor!) because liquorice candy is known to be toxic to the liver and cardiovascular system, and may produce hypertension and oedema...

The candy sold around the world is flavored with both licorice extract and anise oil, like in twizzler string candy.

Licorice is the root of Glycyrrhiza glabra, from which the sweet flavour is extracted. It's in the beans and pea family!

This is why I tell my children to (((Eat your vegegies young (wo)man))). Well, they are now 21 and 25 years old!

Liquorice extract is made by boiling its root then evaporating most of the water. The word liquorice is derived from the Ancient Greek words for 'sweet root. Its extract is sold in both solid and syrup.

Is black licorice good for you?

Licorice is a type of candy, with sugar in it, so no it is not good for you. It is okay in moderation, but large amounts are not good for your body. However, real organic liquorice is very good for you. In fact liquorice is a major ingredient in medicines such as cough syrup and antacids.
