This question needs a two-part answer. If you're asking whether it is more dangerous to rub essential oils on the feet vs. other body parts, then the answer is "no." In fact, as a Certified Aromatherapist, I would consider it safer to rub essential oils on the bottoms of the feet than on other body parts. This is because the feet have thicker tissue, lessening the chance for irritation. That's precisely why many of us recommend applying essential oils to the bottoms of the feet - in addition to being safer, it is also therapeutically very effective.
The second part of my answer has to do with how safe it is to rub ANY essential oils on the body at all, feet or elsewhere. In short, essential oils are NOT created equal. Some can go on the body without being diluted (we call this "neat") - these are Lavender and Tea Tree - some need dilution, and some can't be used at all and are toxic. I consider the soles of the feet to have a wider latitude (or tolerance) for essential oils that can be used "neat." The rule I would follow is this: if an essential is safe for topical use, then it is certainly safe to apply to the bottoms of the feet. Here is a list of essential oils that are generally regarded as safe (GRAS) by the FDA: http://www.libertynatural.com/info/eoinfo/FDA_EO_GRAS.htm. If it is not on this list, then I would not suggest using that essential oil at all, whether on the feet or otherwise.
Some of the newer vaporizers have been fitted with a compartment for essential oils, vapo rub and other such things. If your machine is of this kind read the manufacturers instruction to find out how to sue essential oils in your machine. If your machine is of the older type, essential oils can be dispersed in regular simmering water, or in specially designed diffuser or on a light bulb rings.

Most good health food stores will carry essential oils as part of their stock. The oils in local stores are mostly only good for aroma- therapy. If you are wanting to take the oil internally or rub it on your body it is important that you have a good supplier of pure therapeutic grade essential oils. You can find good sources online.

There are two different oils that are the most potent. The first is Ylang Ylang. You can rub some in a carrier oil on your forehead, neck and pulse points. Another is a blend by My Butterfly Oils (see the related link below) called Moonlight. You can use this one as a perfume or to diffuse in the air. It smells wonderful and will help set the mood! Patchouli oil is also a well known aphrodisiac.
